At Lancashire Language Academy, we believe learning a language is about far more than memorising words and grammar. It can open up the world, build confidence, create new connections and support lifelong learning at every stage of life.
Our mission is simple: to unlock the world through a second language.
Multiple research studies have linked bilingualism and continued language learning with benefits for cognitive health, including stronger cognitive reserve and a later onset of symptoms associated with age-related cognitive decline and dementia. Learning a language constantly challenges the brain through memory, listening, problem-solving, attention and switching between different ways of thinking.
In other words, learning a language is not only a skill for travel or communication -it is also a meaningful way to keep the brain active and engaged.
The benefits are social too. Our classes are designed to promote community, purpose and lifelong learning. They give people something to work towards, a reason to keep challenging themselves and the opportunity to meet others with similar interests. For many of our learners, the friendships, routine and sense of belonging they gain from attending each week become just as valuable as the language itself.
Whether you want to communicate more confidently abroad, keep your mind active, meet new people or simply prove to yourself that you are never too old to learn something new, we want language learning to feel enjoyable, welcoming and achievable.

Lancashire Language Academy brings high-quality, enjoyable language learning to communities across Lancashire, with 10 languages and counting.
We currently run classes from venues in Padiham, Whalley and Preston, alongside flexible online options, making language learning accessible to people across the county and beyond.
Our courses are taught by experienced and native-speaking teachers who bring both expertise and real-world language knowledge into the classroom.
Our group courses are available at a range of levels, from complete beginners taking their very first steps to more experienced learners developing confidence and fluency. We also offer a clear learning pathway, so students can start as beginners and continue progressing through increasingly advanced levels without having to stop after one course.
We also offer private 1:1 and small-group lessons for both adults and children, tailored to each learner’s goals – whether that is travel, exams, work, brain heath, confidence, family connections or simply learning something new.
At Lancashire Language Academy, our focus is on creating welcoming, supportive classes where people can learn at their own pace, meet others, build confidence and enjoy a real sense of progression.

As we are specialists offering Spanish lessons in Lancashire...
We have designed a specialist Spanish language pathway where you can progress from A1 to B1/B2 in around 18 months. If you already have some knowledge of Spanish, please get in touch to arrange a placement test.

Why on earth did I worry ?
Mollie and indeed the others on my course A1+ have made me feel extremely welcome (apart from 'On the bus' ha).
Mollies approach is fun, intuitive, at a pace and difficulty to suit all participants and always explained. The classroom environment is welcoming with the class size just right and the learning pathway provides an incentive for progression.
I've only done 2 lessons and cannot speak highly enough of what I've experienced so far. Hopefully I'll be able to progress to A2 in the new year and eventually right through to B1+ and then B2.
